Current Favorite Makeup

After trying tons of different makeup items over the past few years I’ve finally found my favorite makeup items! I love love love everything I have listed below and I rebuy everything when I run out – or plan on it at least. The nicest thing about the items I have listed below is that I can add steps if needed – a fancier eye, more mascara – or keep it simple for everyday wear. Plus I have a mix of drugstore and more expensive brands – so it really is all over the spectrum price-wise.

My skin has really been thru the ringer the past year – now I can wear a CC cream without being self conscious, but just a few months ago I had to wear full foundation and concealer if I was going anywhere. (I talked about some skincare favorites here) Now my scarring has gone down and my breakouts are under control – but I still do break out the full coverage makeup for a full day at work or on a busy weekend day. If I’m just at home or running errands I will stick with my “everyday essentials”. I hope you enjoy this post!

Everyday Essentials

Sunscreen: Neutrogena Ultra Sheer – In the summer I wear sunscreen DAILY and I put it on anytime I’m going to be outside for more than a few minutes (even in the winter). You can’t be too careful – I am VERY fair skinned and burn extremely easily, so I don’t want skin damage or skin cancer!

Tinted Moisturizer/CC Cream: Bare Minerals Complexion RescueFull disclosure: I didn’t originally love this now I do! It isn’t super thick coverage (which is why I didn’t love it originally) but now it’s perfect to wear daily.

Under Eye Concealer: Maybelline

Highlighter: NARS the Multiple in Copacabana

Mascara: Covergirl

Face

Primer: Smashbox Photo Finish Primer

Foundation: Laura Mercier – The only downside about this is the application. You have to squirt it out and I feel like a lot of product is dripping out into the cap? But a little bit goes a long way so I haven’t run out faster than I would normally. I also have an older bottle so they might have fixed this issue.

Concealer: Cle De Peauthis is super expensive but I’m still on my first stick and it’s been almost 3 years! It is the best concealer I’ve ever used and the only thing that was able to cover my breakouts.

Tinted Powder: Bobbi Brown

Blush: BareMinerals Blush in Hint or NARS

Setting Spray: Urban Decay All Nighter – I just started using a setting spray (such a weird concept!) and it really does make a difference. My makeup looks good all day and doesn’t disappear!

Eyes

Primer: ELF

Eyeshadow: Urban Decay Naked 2 PaletteI got this as a gift from my younger brother for Christmas – epic!  I love the mix of matte and shimmery shades and there are tons of YouTube videos which are helpful for an eyeshadow novice like me.

Liner: Charlotte Tilburyanother of my favorite finds in the last year. The makeup appeared in my local Nordstrom and I was drawn to the display (I hadn’t even heard of it before). Now it seems like her makeup is on every blogger and is getting raved about – for good reason! I love this eyeliner – it’s subtle enough to wear for daytime, but you can layer it on for nights. I also love her eyes to mesmerize cream shadows for a special occasion!

Mascara: Maybelline or Bobbi Brown – For extra drama I actually layer on two mascaras – the Covergirl LastBlast (linked above) separates and lengthens my lashes, and then the Maybelline makes them look super thick!

Tools

Beauty Blender – Cannot live without this! You won’t regret getting this, trust me. It is worth the hype! It’s perfect for blending my under eye concealer.
