Happy Monday everyone! This week we’re traveling so I wanted to share some of my favorite places to travel. It is also a fun excuse to look back through old photos! This list of places is all over the map, so I hope you enjoy!
London
London is my favorite city in the world! (Besides Minneapolis/Twin Cities area of course 🙂 ) I visited a few times with my family before studying abroad there in college. I love everything about it – the history, public transportation (weird, I know), culture, and all the things to do. London is so much more walkable than Minneapolis, so I walked almost everywhere when studying abroad! Also, the museums are some of my favorite. I went to the National Gallery tons of times, and visited the Victoria & Albert whenever I had a free day. I could go back again and again and never get bored! Of course you have to visit the British Museum if it’s your first time in London, but it’s usually super busy so I love the V&A more. Also be sure to checkout the Museum of London, Tate Modern, Wallace Collection, and National Portrait Gallery if you’re a nerd like me. Also, you HAVE to go to Westminster Abbey – it’s a big entrance fee but 100% worth it – and St Paul’s. It’s hands down my favorite city. Writing this all makes me want to go back!
Scotland
I’ve been to Scotland twice and definitely need to go back! One time we just went to Edinburgh and explored – so beautiful and so much history! Again I’m a history nerd and love old buildings, museums, historical sites….all of which Edinburgh has. It’s a lot smaller than London so it’s totally manageable to explore in a few days. Plus the scenery is so gorgeous – you have to climb up Arthur’s Seat and get the panoramic view of the city! Last time I was there we visited my brother at St Andrew’s and saw a whole other side of Scotland. It was so beautiful to get out in the country (we rented an Airbnb) and see both hills and the sea. St Andrew’s is a beautiful town and so fun to visit! (Chariots of Fire running scene anyone??)
Northern Minnesota & Wisconsin
Nothing beats going “Up North” – anyone from Minnesota knows what I mean when I say that! It might not be straight north, but you’re at a cabin, on a lake, hanging with family and friends. Nothing beats time at my parents cabin – I love it in every season! If you don’t have access to a cabin but want to visit Northern MN there are tons of resorts or places to stay. My personal favorite is Ludlow’s Island — yep, an island in Lake Vermilion! It’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve stayed (sunsets are amazing!) and nothing beats running around on an island as a kid.
These places are all very different, and I love different aspects about each one! From the amazing city of London to the woods in Northern MN – I would be fine being in any of these places right now 🙂
I hope you have a great start to your week!
