Last night we met up with some good friends to get ice cream at Sebastian Joe’s. If you’re from the Twin Cities you don’t need more explanation, but if you aren’t you’re missing out! It’s in the cutest neighborhood and has the most delicious flavors. Plus it has a great outdoor area for hanging in the warmer temps!

The other fantastic thing about this area is the proximity to the Minneapolis lakes. You’re right by Lake Harriet & Lake Calhoun – perfect for a walk before or after ice cream. Plus when the temps get warmer there are so many fun activities – we’ve been to free concerts and outdoor movie nights in summers past. (More about the lakes here)

Having this great outdoor space right in the heart of Minneapolis is hard to compare to other cities. New York has Central Park but that’s contained and can still get insane on busy days. The lakes can get out of control on the weekends with runners and walkers but they feel like an essential part of the fabric of the city. I talked about walking around Lake of the Isles here and other reasons why it’s awesome. Basically if you’re in Minneapolis you have to take some time to explore the lakes!

This part of Minneapolis is one of the biggest things I’m going to miss about Minnesota. It’s hard to explain the importance of lakes to someone who isn’t from there. Basically MN revolves around lakes – whether it’s skating in the winter or being out on the lake in the summer. Being able to experience some of that lake living in the city is one of the greatest parts of the Minneapolis area!

P.S. you might be thinking this is Minneapolis? Well no, I couldn’t get a photo there so we recreated it at my favorite place ever.
