I don’t know about you, but I definitely have a summer uniform that I throw on most weekends. Give me a plain t-shirt, shorts, a hat, and I’m good to go! I will change it up for dinner or drinks, but this is what I’m wearing most days! I just got this top from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and it’s a great go-to shirt. I do love the side slits – makes it super easy to do a half tuck!

Today I also wanted to deviate a bit from the outfit posts and share a bit about our summer so far. We’ve been in Lexington for two months – isn’t that crazy?! The other week we drove by a sign on the interstate for St Louis and laughed how we used to live there. It seriously feels like a lifetime ago!!! Isn’t it funny how years of your life can go by in an instant? Almost 3 years there and it feels like a dream.
I’ve really been trying to take the tips I wrote in this post to heart. I’ve been saying “yes” when people want to hang and going to events where I don’t know anyone – just to try and connect with people! But putting yourself out there is seriously HARD. I’m exhausted sometimes after I hang out with new people. It’s so hard having no history and starting from scratch!
Luckily I’ve been able to connect with other residency spouses who are in the same situation. It’s weird moving to a new place and being alone a lot of the time – and they get that! All of us understand the insane schedules (and pressures) our husbands deal with everyday. We joke in Advertising that we’re not saving lives – well our spouses are saving lives, and that’s draining! So finding a community is crucial and I’m happy I’m getting there.
Also, this might sound weird, but I finally feel like we’re just living life and not waiting for the next big event! The last year of Medical School was basically a countdown to Match Day and graduation. Now that we’re on the other side it’s sooooo much better! We go to work/the hospital, have house stuff, run errands – all just living life without these big events hanging in the future. I mentioned this to a coworker the other day and just laughed at how living life is so nice! It sounds odd but it’s true.
The last few months before we moved were so stressful, and I finally feel like all that has lifted. Now we can do fun things like decorate, try new restaurants, and hang out with new friends. Isn’t it awesome when you can look at your days and realize it’s all going well?? And if you’re at a stressful point in life – know that you can make it through to the light at the end of the tunnel! You are equipped to deal with WHATEVER is thrown at you. You will be tired and drained, but there is an end – you just have to work to get there! On that note, have a fantastic Wednesday and I hope to see you back here on Friday!
