Monday Musings

So when I first started blogging I had a “Monday Musings” post every week. It was a mix of weekend recap and whatever was on my mind! It was a great open post to have when I was posting 5 days a week. Now I’m down to posting 3 days a week but I felt like having an “open forum” again! Sometimes it’s nice to literally blog and not have a specific top. So if this starts to ramble, you’ve been warned…

life lately

I feel like our weeknights have been so busy lately. Been our odd schedules, work events, residency events, bible study – there is rarely an empty night. I thought last week would be a nice, quiet week. Ha! We had something every night except Friday. I didn’t spend any time at home after work on Wednesday (until 11 pm) and Tuesday I didn’t get back til 9. Thursday was the same way! I feel like this pace needs to slow down but I’m not sure what to say no to? There are some things we will always need to go to and I don’t want to stop other social events — any advice??

We’ve been working on budgets at work for the next year for our clients and I’ve spent the last week (or two!) building estimates and scopes for EVERYTHING we need to do for the next 12 months. It’s so exhausting! I’m ready to be done with numbers and just get back to actual work. It’s so tiring to think about everything you need to get done in the next year, price it out, and then revise 10 times until it gets approved….

I’ve made the conscious decision to NOT think about work when I get home and on weekends and that’s helping with the stress levels. But it’s draining when I’m in the office – so many meetings and trips back and forth from client sites – so I’m ready for it to slow down a bit!

With these insane few weeks I’ve fallen off the workout wagon again. (That sounds weird but whatever!) I’ve been too busy at night, going to bed too late, and then too tired to get up and workout. So it’s a vicious cycle of not having enough time. Wish me luck getting back into the routine this week!

shopping & home updates

In more exciting news, I FINALLY got some mums for our porch. They’re a deep red and I love them!!! I went to Louis Flower Power on Tates Creek (for anyone local to Lexington) and they had a great assortment at insanely cheap prices. I got my massive mums for $13 each. Plus now that I have planters we have curb appeal and it looks like we actually live in our house 🙂

Now for more fun things – I just placed some orders at Nordstrom and Old Navy and wanted to share what I got!

My everyday foundation is on sale so I stocked up! I also got this translucent setting powder to keep that shine at bay. I ordered a fun bell sleeve sweater, a cute t-shirt that’s on sale, and this basic tank.

You can see more about my everyday makeup routine here

I ordered a pair of their new Stevie pants – I’m hoping they will be similar to my favorite J. Crew work pants! I got this hat (tried it on in store and loved it), a basic vest and some shirts for my husband.

See more recent Old Navy purchases here and here

I’ll be sure to share what I keep from these orders in upcoming posts! I’m a heavy online shop then return in person…so I highly doubt I’ll keep everything.

I hope you have a great start to the week and I’ll see you back here Wednesday! I’m SUPER excited to share that post – so be sure to check back!
