So I’m not the biggest fan of resolutions…I honestly never make many (or any!) and I don’t feel like I need to wait til the New Year to make changes. That being said, I do want to create a list of some things I want to change for 2018 – and I figured this would be a great space to share it. So in no particular order, here are some of my 2018 resolutions and some things to go with!
get up earlier
For a while I was getting up early (like 6:30) and I felt so productive before I even got to work. Lately I’ve been setting my alarm later and later, and it just makes me feel so groggy. Getting up early gives me time to workout, blog, eat a good breakfast, and not feel rushed. I love my leisurely mornings, so I need to start getting up earlier again!
eat more veggies
If you follow me on Instagram (@helen.loves) you might have seen some stories talking about this – I have been trying to get 5 servings of veggies a day. Guys, it’s SO HARD. If you have any ways to get more veggies in your diet please comment with your tricks! Right now I’m doing spinach smoothies, carrots for a snack, and then sweet potatoes or another veggie for lunch and dinner. Oh and steaming allllll the frozen broccoli we have in our freezer (I bought a lot at Costco).
Some healthy eating inspiration here and here.
exercise 3 times a week
I’ve become so lazy the last few months – I haven’t been working out at all! I’m not saying I’m going to become an exercise junkie or workout fiend, but I need to get moving again. The days I get up and work out are always the best days! Or even going for a 30 minute walk after work – I have no excuse to not fit this in 3 times a week. Oh and maybe I should join the gym that’s $7 a month…aka 2 trips to Starbucks. Just need to go do it!
for the blog…
Now onto some blog goals! I really want to improve my photography this year and that means investing in Adobe Lightroom. I have a super nice camera but I know I’m not using all it’s features – we’re just learning still. I don’t want to invest in an expensive lens just yet, and I think that learning Lightroom can really help.
Also, I’m going to be starting an email newsletter so be sure to sign up on the right side of the page! Frequently I have content I want to share that doesn’t make sense as a full post, so that’s where email comes in. I promise not to spam you!
What are you guys hoping to do better in 2018? Do you have big goals? I know 75% of people fall away from their goals before the end of January (or some crazy statistic like that) so here’s to staying strong and making new routines!
