A few posts ago I talked about how I wouldn’t have many new outfits this month – so today is just some closet favorites!
January is a good time to pause on new items while we’re cleaning out our closets (or am I the only one?!). Also we’ve been focusing on home decor which has put a pause on my clothes buying.
The “it’s 20 outside” pose
Jacket: Barbour International // Sweater: Nordstrom, similar, similar, similar // Leggings: Zella // Boots: Hunter // Purse: Louis Vuitton Neverfull // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban
So here you have it – an outfit with nothing new! This jacket isn’t new, these boots aren’t new, and I’ve shared this sweater a few times on Instagram and in this post. But that’s what most outfits are, right? I don’t know about you, but I’m not wearing something new everyday – or even every week.
A few of these items are definitely investment pieces – my purse and jacket aren’t cheap. But I’ve had my jacket for 5 years and it’s wearing in perfectly. It’s great for cool and damp days! I am so paranoid about using my purse because I don’t want to ruin it, but I’m trying to actually use it now. It’s meant to be used, not to sit in a dust bag in my closet! (Where it has been for like a year UGH) So I’m sure you’ll be seeing more and more of it.
My husband calls these boots my grandpa boots, but I love how easy they are to throw on and go. They’re perfect for snow (because they’re so tall!) and also great for rain. I bought them when I studied abroad in London and have worn them countless dreary days. I think they’re a great closet workhorse – you can throw them on, fancy them up with a dress, and wear them 3 of 4 seasons. I have navy but I love glossy black and grey.
Also get ready to see lots of pictures from this location! It’s a few minutes from our house and is the perfect street for blog photos – yes I look for locations as we drive around Lexington. The horse farms really make the best backdrop, and it’s so gorgeous right now with a dusting of snow. The trees in the background will be so pretty all year long!
I mentioned this on Instagram but wanted to mention it here too for anyone who didn’t see that post. When I first started blogging I took pictures of outfits that were fun but maybe not me. Well I’ve realized that was a waste of time and throughout the year I moved to posting things I actually wear. So that’s the foundation of today’s post – an outfit I wear with pieces I love, no gimmicks! I hope you enjoy 🙂
