Low-Key Date Ideas

Valentine’s day isn’t really a holiday my husband and I celebrate, but I do like any reason to have a date night!

So instead of focusing on dates just for Valentine’s Day – which is on a Wednesday AND it’s Ash Wednesday – I wanted to share some dates ideas regardless of the holiday! It’s easy to fall into normal life and forget to set aside time for dates. I’m definitely guilty of this! Sometimes I just want to take the only night we have off together and hang at home. That’s what happens 99% of the time, if I’m being honest.

But it’s good to get out of the house and experience things as a couple – so I’m honestly going to use this list when I need something fun to do!

go to a cooking class

Eating is fun but what about cooking and THEN eating? In a fun setting with drinks and someone else prepping all the ingredients! There is a restaurant in Lexington (Pasta Garage for you locals) that offers pasta making classes every Friday, and I can’t wait to check it out! We’ll probably go with friends, but what a fun and yummy way to have dinner.

just go out for drinks!

Sometimes the bar is the most fun part of a restaurant – and getting dressed up for a drink is cheaper and more casual than a full dinner. Often I just want to get out of the house but I don’t want to eat out, so this is a great compromise.

hit the gym together

I am including this because I walked into my kitchen and saw a workout schedule my husband put together…..message received! So I can see some nights and weekends at the gym on our horizon. Not saying that we will spend the entire time together, because that won’t happen. I love using the squat rack for squats, deadlifts, good mornings, etc, and my husband doesn’t. But we do meet up occasionally to do cardio or abs!

have a phone-free night

One of the best parts about going on vacation a few weeks ago was turning my phone OFF. It was amazing! I knew that people could call the landline in an emergency, and there was really no reason to be on my phone. Turning it off took away all the temptation to check it randomly – it was such a great idea. So I think having a night without phones could take a normal dinner at home to a real “date night.”

Do you guys have any other ideas for fun date nights? Let me know if you have some suggestions – either in the comments below or on Instagram! Have a great weekend everyone!
