do-anywhere workouts

It might be getting warmer but I’m still spending a lot of time inside – specifically for workouts!

The weather has been so fickle and it even snowed this weekend…so I’ve been getting creative with my workouts. I’ve been trying to workout more consistently and wanted to round up some of my favorites that you can do at home.

Full disclosure – these aren’t easy workouts. That’s why I didn’t include some of the most well-known video programs. Honestly, if I’m not feeling something after I’m not going to do it again. I want to be sore and know I worked out – so I only do HIIT workouts at home. That’s why I didn’t include programs like Tone It Up, they’re a little too slow for my speed. Anyways, here ARE the do-anywhere workouts I recommend!

BBG

BBG stands for Bikini Body Guide. It has a cult following (just search #bbg or #bbgtransformations on Instagram) and for good reason. These workouts are HARD and produce results. Honestly, I have started and stopped this program probably 3 times. I get 2 weeks in and it’s just hard to keep going. I hate the arm days – they’re so hard!  The leg days are my favorites, arms/abs are my least favorite, but all are a fantastic workout. I see why this is so popular – it’s straightforward, under 30 minutes, and does show results for those who complete it. The work you do in 28 minutes is insane! Read more about it here and here. I’m on week two again and wish me luck with continuing!

Alchemy 365

Alchemy 365 is a Minneapolis workout studio (with 4 locations I think?) and they just started posting workouts online with videos. Before they posted these workouts I would actually just repeat the moves from classes I’d done on my own – hilarious. But I’ve worked out at least 10 times with these workouts in the last three weeks! The basic format is this:

  • 10 minute yoga flow warmup
  • 10 or 20 minute HIIT session
  • 10 minute cool down

So the warmup and cool down stay the same, and the HIIT is what changes. You might think “10 minutes can’t be that bad” but again, it really is. I love this so much more than BBG because it isn’t as deathly brutal and it includes a warmup/cool down. See more of the workouts here!

Fitness Blender

When I want a workout but don’t know what to do I visit Fitness Blender and pick one of their HIIT videos. (See a theme? I love HIIT workouts!) They have dozens and you never get bored! You can pick the amount of time, intensity, and area of the body you want to target. More importantly, you can pick “no equipment” to get routines with no weights required.

Make Up Your Own Body Weight Routine

You know what never gets easy? Burpees. They’re the worst because they work everything! So when in doubt you can create a circuit with the following:

  • 10 burpees
  • 10 air squats
  • 10 pushups

Do this 3 or 4 times and you will be sweating! Add in a Fitness Blender ab video and you’ve got a great workout you can do anywhere.

Of course I need to include some outfit options for this post – how could I not?! I’m thinking about getting this crop and these leggings from Outdoor Voices. I think they would be super cute!

One of the best parts about being in a house – not an apartment – is that I can jump around for BBG without worrying about waking up a neighbor 🙂 Do you guys workout at home or do you go to a gym?

**Also, don’t you can’t work your way out of a bad diet – I know that for sure! So if you want extra healthy tips, see my post about my lunch routine
