I’ve really been loving skincare items lately so I wanted to share some recent beauty buys! Keep reading for both drugstore and department store finds!
Here are all the recent things I’ve bought and used – in no particular order!
Kiehl’s Facial Moisturizer
I’ve talked about how much I love the ultra facial cream from Kiehl’s (here and here!) and I wanted something lighter for summer. This lotion is extremely similar but not as thick – so perfect for warmer temperatures and more humidity! I use this on the nights where I don’t use the GloPro/Argan oil magic combination (more on that here!).
OleHenriksen Truth Serum
I’ve wanted to add Vitamin C to my skincare routine for a while and the checkout aisle at Sephora got me! One of my coworkers said that the OleHenriksen Vitamin C is the top seller at the Lexington Sephora, so I grabbed the smallest size. I’ve been applying it in the morning before moisturizer, and I have been trying to put it on 2 or 3 days a week. I don’t apply it the morning after I’ve used the GloPro – my skin is extra sensitive then – but I think it is lightening some dark acne spots! So much so that between this, the GloPro and argan oil I’m not wearing foundation anymore.
One thing that’s super annoying in this smallest size is the pump. It’s EXTREMELY finicky and hard to actually pump product out. But the reviews on Sephora say this is just confined to the smallest size…so it shouldn’t be for all of them!
EltaMD Sunscreen
Sunscreen is the most important part of a daytime skincare routine! Prevention is the best course of action for your skin, and sun damage is no laughing matter. Don’t even get me started on tanning beds! Anyways, back to the topic at hand. I love Neutrogena sunscreen but didn’t love wearing it on a daily basis. Some coworkers recommended EltaMD sunscreen as an everyday option – their dermatologists had recommended it, so I bought some for myself. I love how light it is and that it isn’t chalky or cakey on my skin. I apply after Vitamin C and it’s perfect for everyday!
FYI – Amazon, WalMart and Target aren’t authorized retailers and some sellers online sell counterfeit products. Use the EltaMD site to find authorized sellers in your area – most will be medi-spas or dermatology offices!
Sonia Kashuk makeup sponge
I saw these cute makeup sponges on both Emily Ann Gemma’s IG stories and Katey McFarlan’s – and the marble pattern was enough to get me to buy one! But these are NOT like the beauty blender and I really don’t recommend it. It didn’t blend my concealer and it actually soaked up a lot of product. So as cute as they are, spend your money on a real Beauty Blender or a Real Techniques sponge!
There you have it – some recent beauty buys and my thoughts. Some I’ve loved and one that is a definite pass. Let me know if you like recent purchase posts like this – half review, half sharing!
Also, if you’re a Sephora Beauty Insider, you can get 10% off your purchase right now. It’s a great way to replenish your essentials or try something new! I definitely recommend trying a serum – I might even pick up this one from Drunk Elephant! And my blush is running out so I’m eyeing this – what do you think? See more picks in the carousel below!
