So last week I shared what I ordered from the Anniversary Sale, and I wanted to share a review of the items I’ve received!
The shipping took forever but I’m happy that I can finally share what I got. I’m going to breakdown exact items, sizing, and what I’m going to keep or return. I’ll also be talking through some pieces on Instagram, and you can find me at helen.loves !
Tan Scarf – $21.90
Ok I LOVE this scarf! I wanted a tan scarf all last year and couldn’t find one. This is soft, just the right size (not too oversized, not small either) and it will go with so much. I can’t wait to wear it!
Verdict: Keeping it!
Striped Top – $11.90, ivory stripe, medium
This is a perfect basic T. I love how it’s light (almost a tissue fabric?) but not see-through. I went up to a medium because I didn’t want it to be clingy, and it fits perfectly. This is a piece you could wear all year! I am hoping they restock (even though they said on Twitter they won’t….) because I want this in more colors!
Verdict: Keep!
Button-Front Top – $24.90, black, medium
Ok so I bought this because I wanted to branch out from my basic shirts. I was excited to try this but I just don’t love it on. It fits ok but I think it’s too short? I don’t know, I just don’t love it so I’m not keeping it. I would say it runs a bit smaller – this is a medium and it fit me pretty well (I’m usually a small in tops).
Verdict: Returning
Free People Top – $31.90, navy, small
This is an updated version of this top, and I love it! It’s so soft, and I LOVE the especially long sleeves – perfect for a tall person like me. It’s the right type of flowy without being a tent. Plus this is the most beautiful navy color. PS Zappos is price matching it if you want more size options!
Verdict: Keeping!
Topshop Cardigan – $49.90, charcoal, sz 8
Ok guys….what to do about this cardigan? It’s too big but all the smaller sizes are sold out…GAH! It’s definitely intentionally oversized, but it might be too much. If I could go down 1 size I would be so happy. So I think I’m going to keep it to decide what I want to do? I do think I would wear it a ton! So if this does come back in stock I would recommend going at LEAST one size down, if not two!
Verdict: I don’t know!
Treasure & Bond Cardigan – $58.90, navy, small
This cardigan was meh. It didn’t fit right in the shoulders but was the right size in the body. It just hung wrong and I don’t like how it looks, so definitely going back!
Verdict: Return
Zella Leggings – $35.90, small
So basic, but so essential! I wanted another pair of Zella leggings because it’s been years since I bought a pair. They’ve definitely changed – for the better! They are more similar to the Lululemon Wunder Unders in texture and thickness, which I love. I love how high rise they are and seamless. Highly recommend if you want a great pair of leggings! They definitely fit TTS.
Verdict: Keeping!
Steve Madden Slides – $49.90, size 10
I loved mules last fall, and I think I will wear them a lot this year too – so I picked out this pair. But I’m not convinced I love wearing them? They might be a bit too small because my toes hit the front. And they aren’t as comfy to walk in as other mules (hard to keep my feet in) so I’m not sure what I’ll do – maybe I’ll order 10.5 to compare?
Verdict: Unsure?
BP Pullover – $25.90, charcoal, medium
We made it to the end, thanks for sticking with me! My husband predicted when I bought this – he said I would think it’s too low and too short. Well he knows me pretty well – both those things are true and I’m not a fan. I’m not an off-the-shoulder sweater person (can’t wear that to work) and it’s not long enough in my opinion – it’s too boxy and hits at a weird spot. So it’s going back!

Well there you have it – all my thoughts on my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale order! Phew! I am happy with the pieces I found and know they will fit perfectly into my fall and winter wardrobes. Cooler temps can’t get here fast enough in my opinion, I am always over summer after about a week. (I know I’m weird) Give me cold, fall, darkness and snow! Yes, snow! And freezing temps! And a fire in my fireplace 🙂 Needless to say, I’m ready for the new season with my new clothes!
Some tips for trying on clothes:
- Don’t try on ALL new items at once – wear some basics you know you love and look good in! Sometimes it’s hard to tell what looks “off” if you have all new items and they don’t fit well.
- Ask yourself –
- Is this too similar to something I already have and I don’t need 2?
- Is this too different from things I own and I’ll never wear it?
- Ask others for opinions – don’t be afraid to send Snaps or texts with photos to get friends’ opinions. They know you and can help you decide!
