2019….one year away from 2020! AKA total insanity!
2018 has been a pretty amazing year and I think 2019 is going to top it. Obviously with a baby coming in February it’s shaping up to be a BIG year. We are so so excited and that anticipation seems to build daily – especially since the holidays are over and this is the next big “thing” on the horizon.
Today I wanted to share some of my 2019 priorities and some goals for the year. I don’t really do resolutions – instead I want to share the areas I want to focus on this year.
1. Focusing on Family
Duh, right? Family is going to be a big deal this year as my husband and I move into having a family of our own. I want our new family to be the top of the priority list as we move into our new roles.
We both focus a lot on work – obviously, it’s a major part of our lives! – but I want that to take a backseat. And it’s only natural that it should. Honestly my coworkers (managers and peers) have been so supportive and encouraged me in this shift. I never thought I would have managers tell me my focus should be on my family, not work. But they have and I’m so lucky and grateful!
2. Eating more Healthy Food
A funny priority but I want to find some new healthy recipes for 2019! I think starting with Pinch of Yum’s Sugar Free January will be a good kickstart. We made eating veggies a priority in 2018, and I want to expand on that further. Less processed is the goal! I know we’re going to be so so busy with a new baby, so hopefully just a few more staple recipes can help us swap in even healthier choices. I think we did a good job of this in 2018 and I want to continue more in the new year.
3. Read More
While we’ve been vacationing I’ve been reading a lot – and I realize how much I love it! I love reading before bed so I need to get back into that routine again. Plus I don’t want to be just turning on the TV every second I have downtime…I want to grab my kindle as well.
4. Do the Dishes
Nothing makes me happier than a clean kitchen WITHOUT dishes on the counter. Dishes are my husband’s least favorite chore of all (he would literally vacuum the entire house and clean all the bathrooms instead of doing dishes), so it usually falls to me. Lately I’ve been doing dishes every night instead of putting them off, and walking into a clean kitchen every morning is 100% worth it.
5. Get Outside
My workouts lately have just been walking outside – but I love it! I can’t wait to take baby in the stroller and go for walks. So I want to make an effort to get outside daily! (If the weather cooperates – not walking on ice or in the rain).
Do you have big resolutions for 2019, or more incremental changes you want to make? I think the easiest changes for me to make are small changes I can do weekly. If I try to change something major it just doesn’t happen! And I don’t really think that 2019 is the time to try something new with a new baby 🙂
Well whatever your resolutions are I hope you’re having a great start to the year! Happy 2019!
