Yesterday was our anniversary – boy has time FLOWN by.
I say this all the time, but time does not slow down. It just gets faster and faster! This last year has been such a big year for us, and it flew by. From getting pregnant to having a baby, we’ve had some of the biggest moments of our relationship.
I said this before we had our baby girl, but I KNEW she would have my husband wrapped around her finger. And that is so so true – and so amazing. He is the best father and is so doting! He loves to spend time with her just as much as I do. Plus you would die if you saw her big smiles when she sees him for the first time that day!
Unfortunately this isn’t the norm – conversation for another day – but we TRULY split all our responsibilities. If I need to shower or run an errand, he is happy to stay home. If we need groceries, he will go get them. Bathroom or kitchen need to be cleaned? Both of us do it depending on who has more time. He vacuums just as much as I do! We are really equal partners at home and that takes the stress off of me as a mom, which I appreciate so much.
Most importantly he never feels like he’s “watching” our daughter – he is her dad and embraces that fully. She is just as much his responsibility as mine. I know a lot of men who don’t see that (somehow the wife is more responsible) and I’m so grateful we aren’t like that. The fact that we are so equal means both of us can ask for help when we need it, without any guilt or frustration.
Our relationship has changed in the last few months since becoming parents, but that change is amazing and we are loving this new chapter.
I’m thankful for a healthy baby, a great year, and excited for the year ahead! We have some big decisions to make so wish us luck 🙂
