Quite simply – the best thing ever. Becoming a family instead of a couple has been amazing. Parenting is the greatest adventure where you make the rules, break them if you want (yes I can hold you for a nap!), and start another day.
People ask me quite often what the biggest surprise of parenting is. And it’s that I’ve had a blast. It’s been SO MUCH MORE FUN than I ever would have imagined. Plus it’s come more naturally than I expected!
I have loved doing things the 3 of us. Everything is more fun with our girl in tow and experiencing things for the first time. From watching her waving at the Christmas tree to reading her books, we love every moment we’re together.
I am so lucky to have the best husband and coparent – he truly does as much as he can when he is around. Obviously his schedule means he is gone a lot and for random times, but when he is around he isn’t just a babysitter. We split duties as much as we can and I love him so much for that. And for encouraging me to do what I NEED for myself – from massages to time with the girls.
There’s no way to easily describe how awesome this year has been. I definitely can’t share it all in one blog post! But everything I worried about didn’t happen and we had a fabulous year. Hands down, best year yet.
