2020/2021 Winter Bucket List

Hi guys! Well it’s been cold for a solid month but it’s probably feeling more like winter everywhere. And as we move into the winter holidays I know that we are looking for fun ways to enjoy this season. So today I wanted to share our Winter Bucket List! Get ready for lots of ideas…

Visit the Arboretum – we were lucky enough to snag tickets for the Arboretum winter lights (they sell out fast!) and I can’t wait to go visit. But it would be great for a weekday visit and walk.

Zoo Day! We’ve been meaning to get to the Minnesota Zoo for months and I just need to make it happen. You have to reserve tickets ahead of time (online) so we will just go some random weekday. The outdoor and indoor exhibits are both open! ***Side note – the zoo just shut down due to closures for COVID 🙁 I’m hoping they reopen later in the winter!

Do an event at a park – the Three Rivers Parks have tons of events everyday. They actually have a lot of outdoor preschool activities so I just need to register for one so we can go. I also really want to go snowshoeing in some nearby parks so I might rent some snowshoes before buying.

Go for a candlelit hike – there are no events scheduled but in years past there are candlelit hikes at state parks throughout Minnesota. This would be a super fun date night!

Go Skating – ok the last time I went skating I fell and broke my arm so I will not be skating, but I know my husband wants to take our daughter out! Maybe we will go to the rink down the street (hello Minnesota!) or maybe we will venture to Centennial Lakes so we can get more gear to help her.

The key to living in a place with long and intense winters is to embrace the season and live with it! You can’t hide in your house from October til April – you will lose your mind. Don’t let the cold scare you – just get the appropriate gear and embrace it. And use some of my ideas above to get out of the house and explore this winter!
