Looking back on 2020

Full disclosure – I’m starting this post on Thanksgiving night! My husband is at work, I’m watching Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, and I just felt like starting to write this post…..

2020. What a year. It’s funny to look back at the goals I put in my planner back in January. Some of them just weren’t possible (host parties! Have a housewarming party! Have dinner parties! Celebrate our birthdays! Go on a huge Europe trip!). It’s sad to think about everything we had planned that got thrown out the window.

Our last months in Lexington were spent at home and we didn’t really get to say goodbye to our friends. Obviously moving to Minnesota has been the BIGGEST blessing of 2020. We are so so grateful for that. But the year has felt weird…I know you all know what I mean. We’ve been able to see family and friends, but not recently, and not how we wanted.

The bright spot of all of this is our time together the three of us. My biggest concern about moving back to Minnesota is that we wouldn’t have any time as an immediate family. Our families are all here and are very large – and in a normal year there is an activity almost every day. But this year we were able to spend so much time together, go for bike rides, walks, and hit the park. It was amazing to have such unscheduled time on my husband’s days off!

At the end of the day I’m so grateful for our family, health, house, and the ability to pay our bills and save for our future. This year has made me realize how blessed we are. I’m thankful for my hardworking husband, our amazing relationship, the ability to stay home with our daughter, and the life we have built together!
