Winter Skincare (Pregnancy Friendly!)

Hi friends! It’s cold up here and my skin is feeling the dryness!

I wanted to share my current winter skincare as an update to what I’ve been using the past few months. Most of these products get used year round so it’s not “just” my winter skincare – but the hydration is super important in the winter!

Ok let’s get started…

Step One: Cleanse

In the morning I just splash my face with water. At night I double cleanse – first I use my Clinique cleansing balm to remove any sunscreen or makeup. Then I use Obagi’s gentle cleanser to make sure my skin is clean and ready for products.

Step Two: Serums

Every morning I put on Obagi 15% Vitamin C serum – a few drops are enough. (At night I skip this step.)

Step Three: Toner

A few days a week I then use these toning pads from Jordan Harper. They are chemical exfoliants and help turn over dull skin. I would recommend using them one day a week when you start and increasing frequency once your skin is comfortable with them. I use them every other day or so.

Step Four: Hydrate

My skin is so so so dry in the winter so I lather on the hydrating ingredients. First I use a drop of SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Serum. While that is still damp on my skin (key!) I add my Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream.

Step Five: Protect!

Even though it’s the winter you cannot forget sunscreen! Protect your skin from sun damage and skin cancer by wearing sunscreen *every day*. I have used EltaMD for years and highly recommend it.

I used to hate spending time on skincare but now it’s a great way to start the day or end the night. It’s time just for me and it makes me feel calm and relaxed. I don’t love the phrase “self care”, but I do think it’s important to set aside time for yourself and what matters to you. I’ve really focused on skincare in 2020 (since I never wear makeup anymore!) and I love the results – so I stay dedicated to this routine.

A great skincare routine takes time to show improvement but once you get results you will be hooked. If you have any specific questions for your skin type be sure to see a Dermatologist or Aesthetician you trust. Also remember that you get what you pay for in most instances, so sometimes cheaper products won’t produce results – you have to invest unfortunately…But I’m hoping that investing now will prevent issues later 🙂
