It’s a weird time of year around here – and I’m sure you’re feeling that post holiday rut. So sometimes you just need to ground yourself and get back to basics. Today I wanted to share five things you can do to improve your day and relieve some stress.
Make Your Bed
Making our bed everyday makes our room looks SO amazing! Plus then you can leave your door open for light/air flow and the room looks put together.
Do a Load of Laundry
Doing one load of laundry can keep you on track without having to do 8 loads at once. Sometimes I do a mini load, sometimes I have a big load, but keeping up on laundry keeps the workload manageable. So if you have laundry sitting around – go throw some in the washer! Also I’ve tried lots of detergent and still rely on good on classic powdered Tide – it always gets the job done.
Spend 15 Minute Putting Things Away
Most nights – after my daughter is in bed – I spend 15 minutes speed cleaning. That means I load the dishwasher, hang up jackets, put shoes away, bring toys to their right place, and basically distribute everything back to it’s “correct” location. This isn’t really cleaning but it does make our house instantly cleaner because everything is in the right place.
Get Some Fresh Air!
Maybe you have time to go for a quick walk (or snowshoe!) or maybe you just can open your windows – but getting some fresh air will instantly improve your mood. I’ve been hearing more and more about airflow this winter (re: Covid) but it’s interesting to hear how countries like Germany prioritize fresh air even in the coldest parts of winter.
Make a Yummy Drink
Coffee, tea, sparkling water, Old Fashioned, name your drink and make it! It’s fun to have something besides plain water to sip at the end of the day. Or embrace the winter and make some hot chocolate – Williams Sonoma makes the *best* you can buy.
All this is simple but can instantly improve your mood and make your day better. Or maybe that’s just me, but doing the above definitely helps!
