A Day In the Life – February 2021

I haven’t shared a look at our day-to-day in months so I figured I should today! Plus it’s always fun to look back at these and soon there will be another kid in the mix – and I’m sure this will look low key 🙂

Ok so here’s what a normal day looks like…

7: I get up! I do my skincare routine, get dressed and make the bed (if my husband isn’t sleeping)

7:30: I get someone out of her crib. She usually wakes up around 7 but I wait to get her for a little bit. Then we have breakfast and I’ll change her out of her PJs! For breakfast our favorites are:

  • Oatmeal with peanut butter, chia and banana
  • Yogurt with pb, chia and fruit
  • Three ingredient pancakes – banana, oatmeal, egg, mixed in our blender!
  • Freezer waffles
  • Scrambled eggs and hashbrowns (from Trader Joe’s)

9: Time for something fun! Some days we play at home, or we will venture out for an activity. I try to do something fun 1 or 2 days a week. Here are some of the places we frequent in the morning!

  • The library
  • Minnesota Zoo
  • The park – when it’s not icy 🙂

I will also use this time to run errands if needed – this is a great time of day to hit the grocery store because it’s so quiet.

11:30: Lunch. Most days it’s either a sandwich, soup or salad for me, yogurt, or leftovers.

12:15: Naptime. Some days I ride my bike, other days I just clean and get stuff done around the house. And of course spend some time catching up on my favorite YouTube videos or Bravo shows! It’s a time to refresh and have some “me time” during the day.

2:30/3: Someone wakes up. Even if she wakes up before 230 I don’t go in until then.

3-5:30: Open time! We play downstairs or might run errands. We usually don’t have enough time to hit the Zoo, for example, but it’s a good time of day for errands.

6: Dinner

630ish: Bedtime routine starts. We bathe her every 2 or 3 days – it’s so dry so I don’t bathe her everyday in the winter. Then we put on PJs, brush our teeth, and she will either ask to read books or have us tell her a story. My husband and I trade off who does bedtime and naptime depending on his schedule. If he’s around for naptime only he will put her down then, and then I do bedtime, etc.

By 715: She’s in bed. Time to cleanup and get my kitchen back in order.

730-930: Free adult time! Watch TV, ride the Peloton if I didn’t earlier in the day, read, and hang.

10: Bedtime. Early bedtime is better! I love sleep and am cherishing all the sleep I can get in these last few months without a newborn.

There you have it – the template for our days. I love having a schedule because it helps our toddler be happy and well rested. It also means I can predict what our days will mainly be like and plan when we can do fun things. It will be interesting to incorporate a newborn into our life…I’ll definitely post this summer with our routine with two kids. I feel like it will be really different 🙂

ANYWAYS, I hope you enjoyed this snapshot of our day. Ciao!
