Third Trimester Recap

I am 38 weeks pregnant today – how insane is that?!

This pregnancy has really flown by. I shared a second trimester recap a few months ago and I truly cannot believe we are so close to baby being here. It has gone by in the blink of an eye!

Our bags are packed, baby gear is out of storage, and our infant carseat is in the car. I am so excited to get this baby in my arms! I think I’m getting more and more excited the more uncomfortable I get 🙂 The last two or three weeks have been the least comfortable of pregnancy which makes sense.

I’ve been lucky to have another uncomplicated pregnancy with basically no bad symptoms, but I finally feel big and moving around is slow and difficult. Getting up out of bed or off the couch takes me a while! I try not to spend a ton of time on my feet because the ankle swelling has really appeared after 37 weeks.

As I’ve gotten bigger I’ve truly struggled with what to wear and self image around clothing. I just want to wear my cute clothes hanging in my closet and it’s so annoying that they don’t fit! I know they won’t fit for a while – and honestly nothing cute happens the first month postpartum – but it’s a struggle sometimes to not be able to wear what I want. Somedays I just feel like a hippo or elephant and it’s hard to not feel or look like yourself. But I know it’s temporary – I’ve been here before – and I’m excited to be able to workout once I get the all-clear from my OB.

The last few months have been spent going to the zoo, hanging with family, and doing park trips. We really haven’t done anything wild and crazy and we haven’t even spent a night away from our house! But I’ve been trying to savor these last few moments as a family of three before it changes. I’m so excited for my daughter to become a big sister and she talks about baby brother ALL the time. I know it will be a transition for her too, so I’m trying to stick to a routine and make sure she gets undivided time while I can easily give it.

Mainly I am SO EXCITED to get this process started and have baby boy in my arms! I cannot wait to snuggle, hang around the house, and spend time together as a family. My daughter’s favorite thing to do is read books in bed so I feel like that will be happening a LOT more lately. Maybe we’ll get crazy and venture to the park a few times when my husband is at home 🙂

We can’t wait to meet you baby boy and you are so loved already!
