Four months with baby boy

I cannot believe we have a four month old – cue the tears!

The baby phase is going SO MUCH FASTER with the second child. We have been so lucky to have the happiest baby boy join our family. I honestly cannot remember life before him! He makes us all so happy.

He has been sleeping through the night on and off for the last six weeks or so. We had a rough few nights when we had to get rid of the swaddle – right at 3.5 months – but then he was back to being a great sleeper. Naps finally “clicked” around three months so I have more of a consistent routine during the day, which I really appreciate.

Sometimes I feel like all I do is feed kids, clean up, put them down for naps, and then repeat. And truly I’m getting to a place where I love our new normal routine! It’s easiest for me to be at home most of the time so we aren’t trying to do every nap on the go. The easiest nap to do away from home is his last nap, which is a 45 minute cat nap right now. He loves to sleep in a wrap or carrier then!

Here’s a quick snapshot of his schedule most days…..

730: he wakes up and nurses!

730-830: play in kitchen while we eat breakfast

830-10: nap, then up and nursing session

10-11: play downstairs

11-1: nap, then awake and nurse

1-2: play with mom while big sister naps 🙂

2-4: nap! then nurse

4-515: awake and play

515-6: nap, usually in a carrier

6: hang while we eat dinner

6:30-715: bedtime routine with big sister. Bath, I tell a story to both of them, put her down, then nurse him and put him down. His routine to go to bed is I turn the sound machine on, all blinds are closed, put him in his sleep sack (while in his crib), then sing “You are my sunshine” one time and leave the room (turn off all lights!) and he is out.

Here are some current favorite items that we use daily!

He is the happiest, smiliest boy. His whole body smiles when you talk to him. He brings us so much joy! Plus it’s true what they say about baby boys – he is so so cuddly and just loves to be with us. I also love seeing the relationship between my two kids. My daughter is OBSESSED with him and asks where he is immediately upon waking up in the morning. She was recently at a sleepover at my parents and when she got home the first thing she did was walk over to him and say “I missed you so much. I love you!”

I truly don’t remember life before him. He has added so much happiness to our family 🙂

We love you so much buddy!
