I am SO EXCITED to keep working on our house!
For a while I was feeling totally overwhelmed with decorating and “finishing” our house. But now that we have done one major update – new carpet upstairs! – and seen that transformation, I’m ready for more. Here are the areas we are hoping to conquer this year, and what we have done so far!
Outdoor Space
We need to get patio furniture for our awesome covered patio! It’s huge and we love spending time out there. We also might screen it in because the bugs here are real…we are still figuring out if we want to spend the money on screening it in. TBD on that element!
Upstairs Guest & Kids Bath
This will be a major project that we will hopefully be finding a designer/contractor for! We need to completely redo our upstairs kid bathroom because it is original to 1972. That means new vanity, fixtures, tile, paint, cabinets – everything. I am working on an inspiration post to share more! I just got these Magnolia towels at Target because they feel like the color scheme I want for the bath.
I have one company I’m going to reach out so and I’m looking for more recommendations in our area. This is going to be a large project so I want to have everything ironed out inspiration-wise before we get this started. I also think that having what I want nailed down will help us save time (and money!) figuring that out.
“Finishing” Pieces
There are a lot of random pieces we need throughout the house. We need rugs for our play area off the kitchen and family room. I’m thinking something low pile like this? We also need wall decor for our dining room – it hasn’t looked empty with our Christmas decor but that is coming down! We also need a new desk and desk chair. I just got this amazing headboard from Target in a cornflower blue so I’m excited to see our bedroom coming together. We need to hang some art, swap out some pillowcases (maybe this in Indigo?) and then the room will be set.
More Painting
This is less glamorous but we need to have our upstairs trim repainted. It is peeling and is different colors in different rooms? This is a lower priority so we can do it whenever we have the opportunity.
Honestly I’m psyched to focus on home decor now that the holidays have passed. I already love this house a lot – it felt like home so quickly! – so I’m excited to warm up the place and fill up these blank walls.
