Guys I am just in the mood for some updates around my house. Nothing crazy, but I feel like I need more dimension. We have all white walls and I love them but I want to add some layering and character with the decor pieces throughout the house. I’ve shared more home updates here and here if you want to see more about what we have done so far. There are a few areas I’m focusing on adding some traditional home decor –
Updated Kitchen Decor
I want to throw out the dumb “Kitchen” sign on my wall and replace it! In my hope to be trendy I had tried to embrace farmhouse decor. But I’m just not a rustic person and I’m much more comfortable with traditional elements. I’m thinking either a cute piece of artwork like this from Target OR getting a bit more crafty (and personalized) and framing 3 recipe cards from my grandma. I saw that idea in this blog post and I would love to take a few cards from the binders she gave me. I would probably use frames like this. So we’ll see which way I lean!
I also love the idea of adding a light to the counter for some ambiance in the evenings (and early mornings lol). This is a polarizing design idea for some reason but how cute would a lamp like this be in my kitchen!
Updated Entry Way
Our entry way is very basic and I would love to add a new console table and new artwork. I’m thinking maybe a plate wall? This is also one of the only rooms with an original light fixture (from previous owners) and I want to swap it out with something better. I see that light all the time from our family room and I would love a lantern like this or this.
New Lampshades
I am so sick of the plain white lampshades throughout my house. I want something with interest!!! So I want to swap the ones in my bedroom, one on my desk, and a large lamp downstairs for sure. We will see about other areas but I think new shades can really add some pop to my rooms.
