We just got back from the most amazing family vacation!
We visited friends who live in Reno very close to Lake Tahoe. They are close friends from Medical School and we have known each other for a decade which is WILD. It’s fantastic to have friends you can just pick up with despite it being 6 years since we had seen each other.
We spent a day out on the lake on their boat which was SO FUN! I didn’t know how the kids would do but they had a blast. We stayed out for 4.5 hours, found a beach, ate lunch, tubed and wake surfed. It was my favorite day of our trip.
We spent most of the meals at their house but we also did get out for a few meals. We ate at Gar Woods in Carnelian Bay for dinner one night. Wow the view! And the food was great too. Such a great spot for a special dinner. We had brunch one day at Great Full Gardens. I had one of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve **ever** had. And we got steak from Armando & Sons in the Rancharrah Area which was the most amazing steak I’ve ever had. The whole development is super cute! Lots of good food and great company!
But mainly we spent time at our friend’s home right in the foothills going over to Lake Tahoe and enjoying the beautiful scenery and landscape. Truly this area is so magical. We have been in the winter and that is gorgeous in a whole other way! We will definitely be back – the photos truly don’t do it justice. Imagine a lake surrounded by mountains that is some of the clearest water you’ve ever experienced (it is eerie how clear it is….).
This was one of the most fun weeks we have had as a family. Usually our vacations are jam packed trying to see as many family members as possible. We have a lot of obligations and expectations and while that’s fun, it is NOT a vacation. This time in Lake Tahoe was truly restful (I mean people were up early so just forget about sleeping late but whatever!) and we made so many good memories. If you are considering doing a vacation with your kids – DO IT!
