Ways I Make My Life Easier!

Motherhood is busy. In all seasons, at all times. There is always something that needs to get done so it can feel overwhelming to even think about taking a break. But you NEED TO!

So here are a few things I have streamlined to make my life easier to allow for some moments of *nothing*.

I don’t do my husband’s laundry.

My husband does his own laundry, and I do mine.

For some reason people FREAK OUT when I suggest they stop doing their husband’s laundry. He is an adult! He can do his own laundry! I do my own laundry, my husband does his, and we split the kids and communal laundry. I do lots of housework and I don’t need to add something unnecessary to my plate. I never started his laundry when we got married because it seemed silly to offer to do it – plus we are both compulsive and want our clothes washed a certain way (or certain clothes air dried).

I make one dinner.

We have one dinner.

No kid dinner then adult dinner. Sometimes we do a snack dinner when I don’t want to cook and my husband is working. But 90% of the time I make ONE MEAL. If the kids don’t like it after their no thank you bites, they can have toast.

No Pinterest Crafts.

I’m going to out myself as a boring mom but I HATE crafts.

I don’t like painting, I don’t like sensory activities, and I am definitely not going to buy something for a unique craft that will occupy my kids for 20 minutes after I spent hours setting it up. Nope! They can color as much as they want but I draw the line at activities I have to setup. Trust me you do not need to do “sensory bins” or ABC crafts to entertain your kids. Plus if something stresses you out it will not make you a fun parent – I truly hate all messy crafts so they just don’t happen in my house.
