The Group Text #1

I love reading casual posts with lots of random things so I want to get started on a new series! Things on my mind, wish list, random thoughts, and more.

So here we go – I am going to organize into 3 sections to keep it consistent going forward. I am aiming for 3 of these a month…maybe 2. We will see 🙂

Let me know if you like this and I’ll keep it coming!

Current Shopping

I am on a low spend August and trying to keep the non-essential purchases as few as possible. I was so inspired by this post below!

That Practical Mom

The No-Buy Month That Changed Me

With school starting I know there will be random things but here are the rules I’ve set:

  • No eating out beyond our weekly brunch on Sundays (family tradition!)
  • No clothes, makeup, shoes, or skincare for myself
  • All wishes go on a note on my phone (I will share that in September!)

I will keep you posted on how it goes! I just want to get the random impulse shopping out of my system for a month and see how much I can really save.

Parenting Things

I am making new chore charts for my kids. I want to have them be more independent each day without having to remind them. See the post below I used for inspiration. I will take a picture and share in a future post about what we did and what is working!

Daily Chores for Kids: An Age-Based Guide + Free Printable Chore Chart (Part 2)

Now that I have a 4.5 month old (so sad!) I am very sure on my newborn favorites! After 3 kids here are my top items. I would repurchase them all immediately and recommend 100% to anyone looking for items!

  • Ollie Swaddle – Used for all 3 kids and it is the best! The velcro is so strong and once you figure it out it is very easy to use.
  • Baby Bjorn Bouncer – Still using this on the daily! It’s the comfiest and my kids love this so much. For some reason it’s comfier than other bouncers? I don’t know why but they dislike all other ones we have used (at grandparent houses, etc). This is worth every penny.
  • Magnetic Me Onesies – New to me for this baby but I love how easy they are to put on. I will keep buying them in larger sizes!

Also you really need very little for a newborn. I look at registries now and want to scream you will use none of this. Or maybe 25%…just so much clutter out there and I have become more minimal with each child. I love having fewer things to deal with, clean, and organize!

On My Radar

I would love to spend a month in Minnesota some summer – maybe next time my husband deploys over the summer? We had such a great trip and I think longer would be nice if we can stick to keeping it low key. See the picture below from my favorite place ever. My family cabin. Thank you mom and dad for buying this in 1992!!!

Our kids loved sharing a room for our trip so we are considering creating a bedroom for them and then making another room into a playroom. We will see.

I have started a Christmas shopping list on my note – doing everything early is such a stress relief for me. I am not shopping yet but just writing things down as I come up with ideas helps me so much come October and November. Ideally I want to be done shopping by December. I know that is early but it’s game changing for stress!

I have resolved to buy no more furniture for this house as long as we are living in it. It has been 4 years and we don’t need anything else! Please remind me of this when I start looking at stuff for fun 🙂

Happy Friday! I hope you have a great weekend and let me know if you like this format. I enjoyed writing it and getting some quick thoughts off to you 🙂
