Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend and are recharged for the week! Lately it’s been a lot of house details over our way (all the fun paperwork that comes from buying a house!) so to destress I’ve been doing a lot of Pinning 🙂 I have definitely gone down the rabbit hole of decorating our new home so today I wanted to share some of my family room decor inspiration!
We have an Ikea couch that will be making the trip for now, but we will definitely be upgrading! We spend so much of our time in the family room and since it’s open to the kitchen it will be our main entertaining space.
Style
I like to imagine myself in every Fixer Upper house (I’m sure I’m not alone!) but I don’t think I would actually enjoy living in a rustic setting. I’m definitely more traditional in my style and gravitate towards a “Pottery Barn” look. I want comfortable yet chic and timeless. Here are some images of rooms I LOVE and would love to take pieces from – or the whole thing!
I love this room from Studio McGee. It’s probably too preppy for me – and my husband would never like this! – but I love the light colors with elements of gold.
I love this grey sectional and the fun armchairs from Design Loves Detail. The room is light and airy without being sterile. We have grey walls so this is great inspiration to see! The rug is a great detail as well and I love all the shades of blue. We have a darker kitchen though so that would add a contrast which I’m not sure about? Just something to consider.
If I went full glam I would copy Katey’s living room! I love all the glam elements, mixed patterns, and gold details. At a basic level I do love the couch and chair – they are great basic pieces and could be mixed multiple ways.
Ok serious #livingroomgoals. I love everything Rachel Parcell does and her living room is no exception. Granted our room looks NOTHING like this but I love it so so much! The ottomans are used as extra seating which is so creative and here are some more blue armchairs. I also love this rug!
Furnishings
I’m ready to splurge on a good quality couch – Ikea was fine for a while but not anymore! – and some armchairs. We already have an ottoman we’ll use and a TV stand. Here are some couches and chairs I love and feel could be a good fit.
I’m leaning towards caramel or lighter brown leather couches. I think they’re modern and refreshing but still durable! Plus you can style them with so many other colors or textures.
What I think really might be a good option is a grey couch! We have a white couch right now and I’m so paranoid about keeping it clean….definitely can’t continue. Plus there are so many options between lighter or darker shades of grey.
Accessories
Like with clothes, accessories are what elevates your look and brings it all together! Just wearing a different purse or necklace can change an outfit. It’s the same thing for decorating – the candles, pictures, lighting, rugs you use will change how your furniture looks.
How fun is this blue pouf? It would be great for extra seating!
I also love this gold side table – it’s light but adds an extra ‘pop’ to a space with the gold.
I don’t know about you but we have SO many blankets on/around our couch. I would love to add a basket like this one to the room to organize them!
Rugs have become way more fun than they used to be (which you can tell from all the fun rugs up above!). I love this one from Target because it has detail without being “too much.” I know my husband would never spring for Pink but how dreamy is this rug??
I will definitely report back when we are in the shopping phase and when we get these new pieces! This post took longer to write than expected because looking at home decor inspiration is so addicting….oh well 🙂 Have a great Monday!
