Photo is from Fall 2016 in Northern WI! Such amazing colors!
I hope you aren’t sick of the fall-themed posts! 🙂 Summer is my least favorite season so I’m 100% ready to move onto fall. I love the crisp air, cooler temps, changing colors – basically, what’s not to love?! Today I wanted to share what I have on my Lexington fall bucket list – similar to what I did for the summer (here). We did everything on our summer bucket list, so hopefully we get everything checked off the fall list too!
Football Game
This is probably heretical in the SEC region, but I’ve never been to a college football game! Obviously the Cats (University of Kentucky) aren’t the best team, but the atmosphere of college football looks super fun. I think it would be so fun to spend a crisp Saturday at the stadium! We might buy tickets for the end of October or early November for that to happen…We’re eyeing a few dates and hopefully will buy tickets soon!
Buffalo Trace Distillery
Buffalo Trace is one of the closest distilleries to Lexington and we still haven’t made it there! Their tours are free (VERY unusual) and everyone raves about them. We’ve tried to go when we had visitors but the hours didn’t work – so I guess we’ll have to go just us! I think it would be super fun to go on a cool Saturday and then have some drinks after.
Eckert’s Orchard
Everyone has told us that we have to get to Eckert’s orchards in Versailles. I don’t think my husband and I have ever been to an orchard before because he always says they’re “boring” (so I’ve gone with other people!). So this might be something I do with my friends, but I love all things apple – give me all the apple pie! – and pumpkins are a required front porch decoration for fall!
KEENELAND!!!
I am SO excited to be in Lexington for the fall meet at Keeneland – the level of excitement and anticipation is palpable throughout Lexington!!! For those of you not in the Lexington area, Keeneland is the local horse racing track and has races every weekend in October and April. We missed the Spring races by a month and I only hear amazing things it. We have a work day at the races but I want to go as many times as possible! I mean how amazing does a fall weekend watching racing sound? I love getting dressed up (not Kentucky Derby level, but still cute!) and going to fun events. Plus I’ve heard awesome things about Sunrise Trackside – breakfast beside the track while the jockeys and horses warm up.
I hope you guys are as excited about fall as I am! I’ll be sure to share – either here or on Instagram – if we get to any of these places 🙂
