I don’t know about you, but I’ve established a pretty morning routine the past few months!I do the same makeup, eat the same foods, and catch up on all my favorite blogs in the morning. It took me a while to get into a routine when I went back to work in an office, but I think I’ve found my preferred routine now!
My husband laughs at how I get up at the same time every day and spend a lot of time lounging around – when I could easily get up 30 minutes later and get to work at the same time. But I love my extra morning time and it’s possible because I’ve streamlined my morning! Here are my tips and tricks to make your morning enjoyable but start you off on the right foot –
make lunch the night before
Instead of rushing to throw things together in the morning, put your lunch together the night before. Don’t know what to make? Check out the meal I eat for 90% of my lunches! Basically if I’m not going out to lunch I’m eating a sweet potato bowl.
pick your outfit the day before
I always feel like I plan a bad outfit if I rush to pick it out in the morning! It’s easy when I’m working with a capsule wardrobe but I do spend time picking out items before I go to bed. I think about what I have the next day – do I have client meetings or am I just going to be around the office? That helps me pick what level of formality I need to have and narrows in my wardrobe options.
don’t make a to-do list for your morning
This might sound odd after reading the above, but I really try to not have a list of things to “accomplish” before work. I leave paying bills or cleaning until the nighttime because doing chores in the AM makes me feel frazzled before work. Instead of trying to burn though a list I would rather eat leisurely and read some blogs!
eat a great breakfast
I’m not going to get into “whether” or not you should eat breakfast, but I 100% have to eat breakfast every day. For the past few months I’ve had the same breakfast and I love it because it’s yummy, fills me up, and is healthy! I make a half cup of oatmeal, add a tablespoon of peanut butter, some cinnamon, and slice up half a banana. Mix it all together and you’ve got a delightful oatmeal!
