Coats for Fall & Weekend Recap

Coat: LOFT, old  (similar style)// Dress: H&M (similar) // Boots: Frye Melissa Button Boot // Bag: Old Navy // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

The cooler temps are here to stay – I think! – and I’m enjoying breaking out all my layers. I love scarves, sweaters, and anything else that keeps me warm. I’ve got a lot of warm jackets – Barbour, Target one, The North Face puffer for ULTRA cold in MN – but one addition from a few years ago is a more formal coat.

Sometimes you need to put the puffer away and wear a classic coat! So today I'm sharing my favorite fall coats that will be a staple in these cooler temps // Helen Loves

I picked up this coat on a whim at LOFT and it’s been a great addition to my closet. I used to wear whatever winter coat I had with fancier outfits – and it honestly looks funny to have a full down jacket on with a dress! (Trust me I still do this) But having a classic coat you can wear dressed up or down is a great next step for outerwear.

If I had to buy a coat now I would buy this version from J.Crew (or J. Crew factory). It’s jacket perfection and is so timeless! These jackets obviously aren’t going to be the best for super cold, wet, snowy days or extended periods of time outside – but they’re great for work, dinners, or holiday events. We’re all going to be spending a lot of time in jackets for the near future, so it’s nice to have something cute to wear.

This weekend was a great mix of social and lazy. Saturday we ran errands and then had a Friendsgiving with some residents and spouses – complete with the MOST amazing coconut cake. It’s a good thing it was rich because I wanted to eat more and couldn’t! Sunday I meal prepped – made this recipe – and made stuffing for Thursday. I hope it turns out like it does when my grandma makes it. Fingers crossed for sure!

While we watched football – forever – I looked for some furniture for our living room. It’s daunting trying to decide what new pieces to get and make sure it’s cohesive. Right now I’m thinking this sofa (tbd on fabric), this for our TV console, this lamp, and this rug. I’m looking at chairs like this and I LOVE this ottoman. I’m contemplating the couch in dark grey, then lighter rug and accents. Thoughts???

Ok and for a reality check/update. My November Reading Challenge is not going well – UGH. I didn’t read a single weekday last week 🙁 I had something every night after work and when I got home I just went to bed! I read both days this weekend but I really need to get back into it. This has been way harder than my social media challenge! But this week is a new week and it’s time to get back to it. Happy Monday!
