5 top wedding registry items

It’s the time of the year to start thinking about all those summer weddings! So I wanted to share my 5 top wedding registry items – things I am SO happy I registered for all the time.

Your wedding registry is the time to ask for anything – because if no one wants to buy it, that’s ok. So have a mixture of practical, fun, affordable, and splurges! There is someone for every gift – or people will go in on gifts together. And between showers and the wedding, virtually everything on our registry was purchased.

So if you’re considering something – add it to your registry. Worst case you don’t get it, but you might! And you can always return things if you end up not wanting it (we did it, it’s totally acceptable!). So here you go – my top 5 things, in no particular order.

Kitchenaid Mixer

This is probably obvious – but you should definitely include a Kitchenaid Mixer in your registry! We use ours all the time. From baking to shredding chicken, it’s so versatile. I grew up using a mixer all the time so I knew we needed it, but my husband’s family has never had one so he wasn’t so sure. Well we use it all the time so it’s a great element of our kitchen! We picked chrome because I wanted a basic color, but they have tons of fun colors if you want to make a statement. In fact as I’m writing this post we’ve already used it twice today – so it is a kitchen requirement.

A Great Blender

A blender that can blend anything (i.e. ice chunks) is amazing. Prior to getting this one from our registry the blender I had was sad and didn’t work very well – this one is a game changer! I’ve heard great things about Ninja and Vitamix also. We use the blender for smoothies (obviously) but I also use it for baking when I need to mix liquids. It gets used daily!

Serving Dishes

So I’m sure you’re registering for dishes, but what are you going to put things on if you have friends over? You could put appetizers on dinner plates, but you really should get trays or other serving platters! I love this platter, this bowl, and these mini plates! Also how gorgeous is this pitcher?!

Pots & Pans

Maybe this is obvious – well I’m pretty sure everything on this list is obvious! – but you should really upgrade whatever pots and pans you have. I had a bunch of random pots and pans from Ikea, but those just don’t compare to a nice set. We got a Calphalon set and it’s easy to use, clean, and store. Plus I love all the sizes of frying pans we got in the set. Even after using them daily for 3 years they aren’t chipping or losing any non-stick!

Luxurious Bedding

Ever since I worked at Macy’s in high school I’ve known the difference between nice sheets and basic sheets. I was able to buy a 1000 thread count sheet set when it went on clearance for under $10, and since then I haven’t gone back! So registering for great bedding was high on my list – and one of the reasons we registered at Pottery Barn. I love all their sheets and comforters, and they’re easy to mix and match. You just don’t splurge on a nice duvet, shams, and quilt outside of special occasions like this! So even if you have bedding you could use, add some extra pieces – like a fun sham! – to your registry.

There you go – 5 basic things you should consider adding to your wedding registry! Pro-tip: be sure you’re fed and hydrated BEFORE you go register for your wedding. It’s a long process and you don’t want to lose steam! 😉 Hopefully the people with weddings that we’re going to this year will register soon so I can have tons of options! I love buying presents right away so I have tons of things to pick from – so happy registering!
