Happy Monday! Doesn’t this photo just make you happy? I want all these flowers! I wanted to share some things I’ve been looking at over the weekend as motivation for a new week. Fun new recipes, organizational ideas – basically a random assortment of motivation and inspiration. Hopefully this will help you start your week off right!
Food
Eating healthier and being organized with food (I’m working on a meal planning post!) are great goals to have every week. I try to know what we’re eating before the week starts so I can shop as needed! Recently I’ve been using my slow cooker a TON and it’s great to be able to start cooking earlier in the day. If you need some recipe ideas, here are 15 slow cooker recipes – they look delish!
Cleaning
I love when our apartment is clean and organized. Nothing makes me more stressed than seeing clothes hung over chairs (or railings, etc) and a huge pile of dishes. I am trying to be more proactive about cleaning so I don’t let the apartment get super dirty. This article shares how to keep your home clean by using the “5-5-5 rule.” Check it out!
Resolutions
I didn’t make any major resolutions this year, but I’ve enjoyed following some bloggers who have been chronicling their successes. The most interesting series to me is trying to give up sugar — I’ve been trying to be more aware of added sugar, and this account of trying to avoid it all if a good read.
Plan
I don’t know about you, but I feel stressed if I don’t have appointments, to dos, and bills written down in my calendar. I’m addicted to paper calendars and use them more than my phone and Google calendar! I write down when I’m going to workout, what we’re eating for dinner, and any other weekly events or reminders. This year I’m using a Happy Planner and really love the size and personalization options. I’ve also used Emily Ley’s planners and looked at getting an Erin Condren LifePlanner also. Knowing what you need to do before the week starts will make you feel less rushed later!
Be Active
One element I try to include in my weekly schedule (much easier now that I’m at home!) is working out. It’s important for me to be active everyday – even if I just walk outside for 30 minutes. I try to lift weights 3/4 days a week and track what areas to lift (back/biceps, legs, chest/triceps) in my planner. I make sure to walk or run on the days I’m not lifting weights, and if the weather is nice I try to walk daily. Walking or running is a great way to clear your mind and burn off anything that is stressful in your life. Here are some other great ways to work out if you don’t have a gym membership.
Hoping you enjoy the start of the last week of January! Off to the gym over here 🙂
