A Day In The Life – August 2020

Hi friends! Back in March I shared our daily schedule and it was a hit so I figured I would do it again. A lot has changed since then so it’s fun to share – and a good way for me to remember this time in my life!

7: I wake up! I love waking up before my daughter because it gives me time to myself before the day “begins”

7:15/7:30: My daughter wakes up. She just lays in her crib and sucks her thumb until I get her! So sometimes I let her lay there for a few if I’m getting ready 🙂 I change her diaper and then we play for a bit.

8:30: Breakfast. We rotate through oatmeal, scrambled eggs, toast, yogurt or banana pancakes.

9-11: Play time! We play downstairs, upstairs, walk to the mailbox or go to the park. We recently (like ten days ago) shifted to one nap so I try to keep her occupied so we don’t get tired too early.

11: Lunch. We will eat leftovers from dinner, some type of deconstructed sandwich or yogurt most of the time. Whatever is easy and nutritious at this point!

11:45-2:45: Naptime. I will workout (see my full Peloton review!), get ready and clean around the house – including whatever dishes we have from breakfast and lunch. It’s a great time to “reset” the house. I also use this time to work on upcoming blog posts – all while listening to the radio or a podcast. How I Built This is my current favorite!

3: Snacktime

3:30-5:30: More playtime! Maybe another walk, maybe a park trip, or we will use this time to run some errands. We also love heading to a splash pad!

5:45: Dinner. I live by the philosophy that I only make ONE meal for dinner. Lunch and breakfast are easy “meals” so I won’t necessarily eat the same thing. But I am not a short order chef for meals that require work! So we eat dinner as a family and we all love that time. Lots of times I will put her in her high chair and let her color while I cook! She loves being in the kitchen near me while I’m cooking.

6:30: Bedtime routine starts – she’s in bed between 6:45 & 7.

7-10: Adult time! If I’m home alone I’ll ride the bike (if I didn’t midday) and then clean up. If my husband is around we will clean and then read – we’ve enjoyed reading lately and it’s nice to make the time. Then we’ll finish the night with an episode of something and go to bed.

So there you have it – a day in the life. I love our little routine and I honestly LOVE all our quality time together. Our routine doesn’t change if my husband is at home, instead we just do things as a family instead of just the toddler and I. It’s nice to have this routine so we all know what to expect each day! I live and die by structure and I truly think it helps my daughter be so mellow and friendly – she knows what to expect daily.

I have rounded up a bunch of things in the carousel that we use each day – enjoy!
