Let’s not beat around the bush – spending holidays in a new place, away from family, can be tricky! This year we are on our own for Thanksgiving and will be making a brief trip for Christmas. So I want to create some new traditions we can do year after year to get us in the holiday spirit.
Thankful Turkey
I saw this on Instagram and got construction paper to do this activity from Busy Toddler – a Thankful Turkey. I’m SO EXCITED to see what my toddler is thankful for. A few of my friends have done this for years and love how it turns out.
Thanksgiving Breakfast & Parade
Thanksgiving is my favorite meal of the year – so why not start that eating day with a yummy casserole or egg bake?! I would love to pop something yummy in the oven, snuggle on the couch with coffee and watch the Thanksgiving Day parade.
Seeing a Light Show
One of our favorite things in Lexington was the Christmas lights show at the Kentucky Horse Park! It was a dream for our kiddo to see and she loved it so much. I’m hoping we can find another fun light show to go to this winter!
Christmas Movie Nights
I want to have a movie night – maybe one night a week? – where we watch a festive movie all together. Maybe even be crazy and let the toddler stay up past 7 🙂 It would be so fun to spend time with her after baby brother is in bed. Leave your favorite Christmas movies below! My favorites are White Christmas and Elf! (Elf won’t be on our family list haha)
Do you have any holiday traditions you love? Let me know if there’s anything I should add to our list! Remember we have a toddler and baby so we can’t be too crazy 🙂
