Sometimes the most simple posts are the ones I love to write. So today’s post is quick and straightforward – our current favorite toys that help my kids play independently.
I have a 3 year old (INSANE) and 10 month old. They both love to play with me 🙂 but they also will play by themselves with select toys. So here are the toys they love AND will entertain them enough for me to do some chores or make a meal.

Lovevery Block Set
I picked this Block Set for a collaboration with Lovevery (more here!) and it has been the best addition to our toys. My 10 month old is playing with it right now! The possibilities are truly endless for what you can build and I LOVE that it is all wood and not plastic. We keep it in our bedroom – which is quite large – so it is easy for them to play with when we are doing laundry or whatever upstairs.
Little People Toys
I bought a similar barn and this bus two years ago for Christmas and we use it daily with our 10 month old. His chubby hands can easily grab all the Little People and they are perfect to chew on 🙂 This is definitely his favorite toy of the moment.
Lovevery Play Kit
These Play Kits from Lovevery are SO fun! We just picked the 9 to 10 month kit and honestly both kids love it. The egg holder is a huge hit and the cups are too. And my baby will play peekaboo with the scarf which is the cutest thing **EVER**. Also their play mat is always being used in my house!
Magnatiles
For Christmas we wanted something like Legos but didn’t want the choking hazard of Legos 🙂 enter Magnatiles! We play with these all.day.long. We build houses for our Ninja Turtles, our Little People, or just fun creations to destroy. They’re super easy to use and fun for parents and kids alike.
Tonies Music Box
The Tonies Box is another of the Christmas gifts we gave our daughter and she loves it. We have four characters that play songs – Elsa, the Lion King, a puppy and a creative Tonie. She will play with this by herself for hours! Our 10 month old can’t use it by himself but he loves listening to the songs as well. Some of the characters have small parts so I remove those from the ground and only let the baby play with the really chunky ones – I don’t think any would have pieces snap off, but better safe than sorry.
I can control the max volume through an app and it also has a headphone jack if you want it to be totally silent to everyone else.
Don’t get me wrong – I love playing with my kids. BUT nothing makes me happier than seeing my kids playing together. It is SO FUN to see them sit side by side – for those brief moments 🙂 – and play together. All of the toys above are great for facilitating that independent play and get used virtually daily around these parts. If you have kids 3 and under, I recommend everything so so highly.
Happy playing!
