Our downstairs bathroom is what guest see, what we use all the time, and needs a refresh. The vanity is original to 1972 and the mirror and light are just plain ugly. Also the vanity is super low – great for the kids – but very weird!
We are a bit “constrained” by the tile in this part of the house. It is very brown and earthy. I’ve discovered that blues work well to contrast without clashing, so I’m leaning into blues for this bathroom to add some color and interest.

Also, we are going to be doing this update ourselves so I will keep you posted on how that goes. I want more timeless elements for the items that get built in – like the vanity. Light fixtures and accessories can be more trendy, aka gold, if someone wants to swap in the future.
Every update we have made so far has made our house brighter, lighter, and fresher. It’s amazing to see the gratification from home updates! I’m excited for this one because this small room will have a big impact once it’s updated. Wish us luck!
