Life lately has consisted of some amazing summer days. Ice cream, days at the pool, chill afternoons in AC – what more could you want?!
My husband went on a 14 day work trip in July and we’re all so happy he’s back. It’s the longest I’ve been alone with two kids so I approached it like my own mission haha. I came up with a list of fun things to do because I wanted to keep us occupied and tired. My goal was to help pass the time and make some fun mommy and kiddo memories.
We went to the children’s museum 4 times, the pool 6 times, ate out for two dinners, and had a lot of fun around the house. We went on lots of walks (pictured above!) on our 2.5 mile neighborhood loop. One of my favorite mornings was pretending to be jedi with my toddler in the backyard – complete with stick lightsabers. It was *completely* her idea!
My takeaway from being alone with the kids is that planning is essential. I meal planned, scheduled activities, and tried to do as much as I could after bedtime to make the mornings easier. I also tried to plan playdates with the friends we’ve made here. Both my kids thrive on a routine and my daughter LOVED knowing the schedule for the day.
I’m so excited for more fun and lazy days before we have preschool! AH! This summer has been so fun and I’m not ready for it to be over. Luckily the pool is still open through September 🙂
On My Radar
I love this dress but can’t decide if it’s too summery and wouldn’t work in the fall? Fall isn’t a thing here – still in the 80s – but does the dress look too summery? Or should I get this dress from Anthropologie for an upcoming wedding?
I have these sandals in pink and wear them so much I’m considering getting them in another color. They’re an affordable dupe for Birkenstocks! They sell out frequently however so I just am waiting for them to come back in stock.
Recent (re)Purchases
It’s my third purchase of the Barefaced Toning Pads. Using them every other evening makes a noticeable difference in my skin! It looks glowy and even toned. Obsessed. I also ordered the Liquid Gold and will report back on that.
I drove to Sephora immediately when I ran out of my Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream! It’s the best moisturizer I’ve tried and I can’t live without it. I’ve used it for years and years so I honestly have no idea how many times I’ve purchased.
On that same note, sunscreen is a must and I use EltaMD daily. It’s so convenient to be able to get it on Amazon now!
I also have bought more CeraVe – such a great drugstore moisturizer – and Dove Shampoo and Conditioner. I bought the Dove on a whim for our guest bathroom and liked it so much that I bought some for my shower. I like to rotate what shampoo I use so I always have a few in my shower, and this is a current favorite. Plus the price makes me love it even more.
Last but not least – Windex! Nothing else cleans glass like Windex. Sounds dorky but I love a clean mirror.
Well that’s all for today – I hope you’re having a great August so far!
