If you’re like me you are probably a creature of habit with your morning routine! I get up at the same time, eat the same things, and leave for work at the same time. I also really love having extra time in the morning – but I obviously don’t want to get up earlier. So I’ve tried to streamline my mornings (I’ll have a post on that in a few weeks) and one essential element is an efficient everyday makeup routine.
Some people can get away with little-to-no makeup, and I’m not one of those people! My skin is acne prone and I get discoloration very easily after a breakout. I also just feel more comfortable when I have everyday makeup and look more put together. I’m self conscious when I don’t have makeup so I don’t even try for “no makeup” days! Just ain’t gonna happen for me.
So here is my basic routine –
- Apply Foundation
I swear by Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue. It’s super quick to apply and easy to layer. It does look a bit shiny when you first apply, but then the shine dries down and it’s a radiant finish (not matte, but not shiny). I wear the lightest color and it’s perfect all year. One tube lasted me 6+ months of wearing it daily. It’s definitely a great value for the size! I wouldn’t wear this for a formal event – it’s definitely not a full coverage foundation – but it’s perfect for everyday. More on all my makeup favorites here!
- Undereye Concealer
I CANNOT live without this Maybelline concealer. It is the best!!!! Go buy it right now! One tube lasts forever but you don’t have to worry about that with a price tag under $10. I apply it in a triangle (pointing down) under my eyes and blend with a beauty blender. I don’t have to apply it too thickly to get great coverage. It really brightens your face and hides all those dark circles. Some weekends I’ll just wear this with mascara to look awake. It’s really that amazing!
- Blush (and Bronzer)
Blush is a requirement for my everyday makeup – I feel like it freshens up my face and makes me look happy! Plus it adds dimension and brightens everything up. I am addicted to Tarte Amazonian Clay blush since I first tried it. It lasts longer than any other blush I’ve tried and is super pigmented. I have it in the color Partaaayy and it works well for everyday wear. I swipe it on the apples of my cheeks and am good to go!
When it’s warmer outside I throw some bronzer on the outside of my face (towards my hair line). I avoid the sun like the plague so I have to rely on fake sun!
- Mascara
I talked about this L’Oreal mascara in this post and I’m still loving it. It’s easy to apply and makes my lashes thick with one application. It’s the best drugstore mascara I’ve ever tried! (Don’t worry, I’ll update you if that changes)
That’s my everyday makeup! I can do it in less than 5 minutes and have great results. I love having predictable routines and not getting hung up in the morning – it’s less stressful and easier to get ready! Any questions on my routine, let me know in the comments!
