what to wear to the keeneland spring meet

It’s that time of year – the Keeneland spring meet!

If you followed me back in the fall I talked about what to wear to Keeneland’s fall meet, and time has flown by! For those of you who aren’t in Lexington, Keeneland is a race track in Lex that has meets in October and April. For those Thursdays through Saturdays races run all afternoon. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon with friends or family!

In the fall I went with coworkers and this year my parents and brother will be in town for the last weekend of the meet! It’s such a fun day – especially if the weather cooperates. Ok so back to today’s topic – what to wear to Keeneland!

Dress: Similar from Nordstrom // Shoes: Target // Earrings: Similar from Tuckernuck // Purse: Old Navy (old) – check out this favorite purse!  // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

It was so windy when taking this pictures – made it a bit tricky in a wrap dress!

Of course a fun spring dress is in order for Keeneland! Duh! There are so many fun spring dresses at all price points. I love this and this and this! As you can see from my dress I’m trying to branch out into florals – they’re out of my comfort zone! – but I definitely gravitate towards dresses like this white ruffle option.

And don’t forget my Keeneland essentials – a crossbody bag (you have to have your hands free for eating and drinking), and comfortable shoes. Now is NOT the time for stilettos, trust me. You won’t look good walking on grass or standing in those after a few hours. Stick with wedges or espadrilles – there are endless options right now for whatever heel-height you want!

If it’s cool I’ll definitely bring a jean jacket to wear over my dress, and to protect against some sun. We have seats in the grandstand so we won’t have to worry about rain but the temperature can be all over the place.

The best part the Keeneland spring meet is spending a day with friends in a fun environment – and all of Lexington comes alive for these meets. From tailgating to betting to actually watching the races, it’s a must-do if you’re in Kentucky.
