Many moons ago I shared a week of work outfits – how life has changed since then!
Life looks *very* different with a 3.5 month old ruling my days. Don’t get me wrong, it has never been better and my days have never been happier, but it is such a new adventure. Instead of going to an office everyday I’m at home, running errands, and managing life with an infant.
I think it’s hard to imagine what your days will look like until you live it – and I know that was true for me. I wondered what being home with her would look like, but it’s super hard to know how you will fit into the groove of day to day life. So today I want to share what we did last week – for my curious readers and also as a time capsule for myself!
Monday
Top: Free People // Jeans: Old Navy // Jean Jacket: Madewell // Bag: Madewell
I got to go back to bed after nursing someone at 7 AM because my husband had the day off! Which meant he missed when Kaley Cuoco showed up in his unit and visited patients – you can see more on her Instagram haha.
Anyways, I went back to bed at 730 and slept til 930! Then I hopped on the Peloton and did a 30 minute ride.
We went to Windy Corner but missed breakfast by 5 minutes….so decided to have a cinnamon roll (the best!) and drove to Wild Eggs for brunch. We didn’t feel like lunch food so brunch was just the ticket! Oh then we went to Target because our garbage can is broken….yay for a new garbage can?
Then we hung out at home, went for a walk, and finished the night with The Bachelorette.
Tuesday
Jacket: Lululemon // Top: Adidas // Leggings: Lululemon
Laughing because the day before I had a post about baby sleep and then the night was one of the worst ones we’ve had in a while! Funny how that works out 🙂 She slept til 2, ate, then slept til 6…..needless to say I drank a lot of coffee! I even tried to go back and nap when she napped at 7:15, but I was too hungry haha. Fail! She has been breaking out of her swaddle but gets REALLY upset when her arms are out, so I ordered the Ollie swaddle to see if that helps. She’s not rolling at all so we want to keep swaddling as long as possible.
So after the long night we decided to hang around and ventured out for a long walk. (I mean obviously we = me, not like the 3.5 month old is saying much about it haha) It was sunny and cool so we had to get out there! We’re still loving our stroller – full review here. Oh and having an Apple Watch makes tracking our walks super easy. Loving that too!
Wednesday
Well maybe 6 AM is our new wakeup time? Haha. She made it til 6:15 this morning – and only woke up once overnight so I’ll consider that a win. I’ve been trying to keep her up a bit more so we shift more sleep to night time, so I tried to work on that today.
I got in a ride on the Peloton while she was awake, I’m pretty sure she thought the instructor was talking to her. She just smiled the whole time and looked around the room. We also went for a walk at the end of the day for her last nap (see a theme?).
My husband got to leave the PICU early today – yay! – so I ran some errands on my own. I headed to H&M to do some returns and also ended up buying a ton of cute things….so hard to resist! I got these shorts, these pants, this romper, this headband and this dress in black (not online). I’m sure they will all be on the blog at some point!
Thursday
Today we went to the library for story time and then ran to Costco. I try to combine errands so I only have to put her in the carseat once – so since we were already out, we just kept going. Even though she’s little, storytime is super fun because she just looks around at the other kids and adults and smiles. I’m sure it’s fun to see different faces in a different spot! I’m glad we’ve started doing this and will keep going every week!
Friday
Someone slept 11 HOURS LAST NIGHT! She was up for about 30 but she fell asleep and then slept another 4 hours before she ate. Winning! It might never happen again but here is proof it happened once. Another example of how baby sleep is not linear in improving 🙂
We head out of town on Sunday so I spent a good chunk of time packing and organizing. We’re driving back to Minnesota (wish us luck) so I want to separate what I need for a night in a hotel out from everything else. Thank goodness my mom is road tripping with us.
I also got in a 30 minute Backstreet Boys ride on the Peloton – it was amazing! My husband surprised us by coming home at 1 – they have low patient census in the NICU so they don’t need 3 residents and he got to leave early. We also had friends over for dinner – I made salmon, no-knead bread, this pie, and they brought a salad. The pie was fabulous and it might become a go-to dessert! Overall, a great last day of the week.
There you have it – 5 days in the life. As you can see, not too crazy and pretty routine. And that’s the way we like it! Routine keeps the days good for baby girl and let me know how to structure our week. It might seem boring but I’m loving it and it’s so fun to spend everyday with her.
