We have lived in our house for a full year. Which is just crazy to me!
I’ve shared a lot of what we’ve done so I wanted to recap it all in *one* place and then share what we have up next. We have loved making this house feel like us and every project makes us happier and happier.
For a Quick Recap…
We painted virtually every room in the house – we only have the two upstairs bathrooms left! We replaced carpet, installed new blinds and curtains everywhere, and changed all the ceiling light fixtures. We got new appliances in the kitchen, new backsplash, and new countertops. We also just finished a powder bathroom refresh that I’m hoping to share in a dedicated post! We also installed picture frame molding in two bedrooms upstairs which was truly transformative to those big empty boxes.

Up Next!
We have moved from the DIY projects to the “find a professional” projects. We need to have the trim and doors repainted in the house so I need to get some quotes from painters. It’s just not something we want to tackle ourselves! We have also been working on getting fence replacement quotes which has proved surprisingly difficult. Six neighbors (including us) want to have our fences replaced and it’s been tricky to find anyone interested…we’ll see! We also want to do a refresh of our guest bathroom with new paint, mirrors and lighting. And maybe refinishing the countertops? We’ll see!
Our house truly does not look like the same house anymore. It has changed so so so much! We’ve spent lots of time, sweat, some tears, and money to make it our own. We have YouTubed how to install dishwashers, ripped out trim, replaced trim, and painted over and over and over again. We aren’t professionals but we have taken chances and learned as we’ve gone. If you take away anything from this post it’s that YOU TOO can update your home to make it your own! You can make changes to improve your environment on virtually any budget. It might take more time but the results are truly worth it. We are so so happy with everything we have done this last year.
