Life Lately – October 2022

Lately I’ve found myself reflecting on this time of year so I wanted to write some of it down to share here!

This time last year we had moved and were in the thick of unpacking and settling into a new city. (Sharing all about the last year in our house here!) We also had a 5 month old and were in a totally different space with our kids! Plus add in family weddings and holidays and we were doing a lot of traveling.

This year we have had a lot of visitors in October – 11 ! – but we have been able to enjoy this time of year at home. We also didn’t appreciate the cooler weather because it seemed so hot after summer and fall in Minnesota. But now we know that 60s in the morning is a DREAM and must be enjoyed!!! All we thought last year was how hot the fall is – and it is! – but it’s all relative. After a summer with 95+ **everyday** the 80s are truly magical. And I honestly want to cry with joy when I step outside in the morning and it’s in the 50s!!!

Plus our daily routine is much more predictable with an (almost) 18 month old and a 3.5 year old. We have pretty set schedules for naptime and bedtime. I know that they can be kept awake at night if needed or we can push a nap from time to time. That gives us a lot more freedom for going out to dinner, lunch, or just being social.

I’m excited for the next few months of holidays and time as a family. We have fun things we want to do, restaurants to try, and more visitors coming. It’s almost like we have a newfound freedom as a family because we have a full life here and don’t feel like we’re visitors in our city. Last year we couldn’t even find a grocery store without using our phones so it’s soooo freeing to know our neighborhood. Plus I mean let’s be real – we have SO MUCH more time because we aren’t in the thick of unpacking, painting, cleaning, and doing a gazillion more house projects!

It’s funny how you go through phases of life. Newborn life, moving – it’s all consuming when you’re in it. But once you get out of the fog (or survival mode?) it’s amazing to prioritize fun and making memories as a family. I’m excited we aren’t going to be traveling until Christmas so we can enjoy this special time of year at home.

Ok so that’s what I’ve been thinking lately! Here are some random finds I’ve enjoyed lately…

  • I got these facial toning pads on Prime Day and love them! They are very gentle and smell great. I use every other day and can tell they are helping my skin tone.
  • My husband told me I needed more clothes for everyday so I listened and headed straight to Lululemon 🙂 I got these joggers (wearing them now – SO SOFT!), this long sleeve top (also amazingggg I want more colors) and this sweatshirt and this pullover. I see a fall and winter uniform 🙂
  • Christmas shopping is in full swing and I got this book and this truck for my son. He’s going to freak!
  • I got these wreaths for our front doors and added some gingham bows for fall. I am going to keep them up year round and change out the bows as needed. They are the perfect size for my doors.

I hope you have a great week and that you are enjoying fall temperatures wherever you are!
