Missouri Botanical Garden in the Spring
Happy Monday everyone!
I hope you had a great weekend and are feeling refreshed as you start another week. We had some great weather in St Louis and spent all weekend outside! I just got new hiking boots from REI for some upcoming trips so I wanted to try them out. We went to Cahokia Mounds in Illinois – it’s a World Historic site with mounds built in the 13th & 14th century! It’s funny how you live near things by years but never check them out. Cahokia had a great visitor center and was fun to explore – definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for something educational in St Louis.
I know that we’re not out of the woods cold-weather-wise, but it sure feels like we’re turning a corner towards spring. Even getting into the 40s makes me happy! Plus we’ve had a ton of sunny days – it really doesn’t get better than that. January was grey for weeks here so it’s nice for some sunlight.
We only have a few more months living in St Louis so I wanted to share a “wishlist” of things I want to do before we leave! Most require decent weather, so I guess it’s a spring/pre-moving wishlist.
Missouri Botanical Garden Visit
One of the great places near us is the Missouri Botanical Garden. City residents get free admission on Saturday mornings (all year!) and we have been so many times! It’s great that we can just wander over and visit without having to feel like we need to spend a ton of time there. It’s so pretty all year but it is truly amazing when the flowers are blooming in the spring. I love going here and am really going to miss having it nearby! If you’re in St Louis it’s a must-see!
Eat Outside
Last year we had dinner outside for our anniversary and that was such a treat! The times you can eat outside in Minnesota are so limited, but the season is much longer in Missouri. It would be great to do an outdoor Happy Hour with friends! We also eat on our back deck when it’s nice, and I want to do more of that too.
Here are a few places on my list that have outdoor patios: 360 (rooftop bar!) // Sasha’s on Shaw // Hi-Pointe Drive-In
Go to an Exhibit at SLAM
SLAM = St Louis Art Museum (awesome acronym, right?). They have some great exhibits now and a few upcoming that look good as well. I need to go pickup tickets – they have designated times for city residents to get deals – and then go! I’ve only been a few times but I want to visit more. I was an Art History major and I studied Museum Studies as a minor so I’ve got a real love for museums!
Last and definitely least……
Spring Cleaning!
I’ve been doing some constant “spring cleaning” since January but I want to pick it up a notch. I really need to decide if everything we have is worth moving. I’ve already made multiple trips to Goodwill and we have furniture we’re going to be selling, but I want to take a really harsh look at everything. Do I need a T-shirt I got from an event in college? Probably not but those are the hardest for me to get rid of – and I have SO many.
