Today I wanted to focus more on beauty because I’ve been using some amazing drugstore products the last few months! Once I realized how awesome they were (I don’t know why I didn’t realize this originally) I knew I had to share. So here are my May drugstore beauty favorites – enjoy!
To start, I wear sunscreen EVERY DAY in the summer. I basically wear it year round but I make a special point to lather it on in the summer. Foundation has SPF frequently but you need to layer it very thickly to get that level of SPF – so I always do sunscreen separately as well. My favorite for years is the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunscreen. It’s light, smells great, and is easy to layer. I usually wear a 30 SPF or 45 on my face for normal days. Plus it’s under $7!
Another daily essential is mascara. Just curling my eyelashes and adding a layer of mascara works wonders! For super basic mascara I love this Covergirl LashBlast Mascara – it is very light and defines your lashes a bit. If I want more definition and drama I add my current mascara addiction – Maybelline Volum Express – the Falsies. Adding two coats of it (letting it dry in between) seriously makes it look like I’m wearing lash inserts. I don’t feel bad if I use a ton of it because it’s also only $7.
Some days I get lucky and wake up without dark circles, other mornings I look pretty worn out. Yay! For those days I rely on my Maybelline Dark Circle Concealer. I pat it on (with the built in applicator) in a upside-down triangle under my eyes and then blend it in with a Beautyblender. (The triangle does mid way down my cheek FYI) It’s not too heavy and makes me look instantly awake! I’ve heard that this Eco Tools angled sponge is a great Beautyblender alternative and it’s $10.
A non-essential part of my daily routine is eyeshadow and I only finally learned that eyeshadow primer is an essential step. If you don’t add primer your eyeshadow will fade and not last the whole day. I know there are a million types of primer and people are super picky about them, so I’m sure this Maybelline Primer isn’t the top of the line but it works for me! I figured I didn’t need a super expensive item for something I don’t use daily. But it does work when I want my eyeshadow to last!
Everything here is under $10 and in stock virtually all the time! None of these are new products so you shouldn’t have a hard time finding them. I usually go to Ulta because you can get coupons all the time (here) or Target if there are deals on Cartwheel. Once I run out of foundation I want to try this Wet N Wild Foundation that everyone raves about and is only $6! I’ve never seen it in stock in a shade close to my skin tone, so the hunt continues.
